Cellulose Nanocrystal Embedded Composite Foam and Its Carbonization for Energy Application

In this study, we fabricated a cellulose nanocrystal (CNC)-embedded aerogel-like chitosan foam and carbonized the 3D for electrical energy harvesting. The nanocrystal-supported can demonstrate high surface area porosity, homogeneous size ranging from various microscales, quality of absorbing external additives. order to prepare CNC, microcrystalline (MCC) was chemically treated with sulfuric acid. CNC incorporates into chitosan, enhancing mechanical properties, crystallization, generation porous structure. weight percentage 2 wt% in composite. CNC/chitosan is produced using freeze-drying method, CNC-embedded has been carbonized. We found that degree crystallization carbon structure increased, including CNCs. Both are degradable materials when includes which form some typical surface-related morphology. cyclic voltammetric result shows vertical composite specimen had superior electrochemical properties compared horizontal specimen. addition, BET measurement indicated possessed especially mesopores layer structures. At same time, led significant increase portion micropore.
